“We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope.” – Martin Luther King
Recently after a term of relative stability in my part of the world I got some news that a man who would dismantle important social programs was elected to the governor’s post. The idea that so much progress will be undone is frightening and if this man undoes healthcare lives will be lost. So it was time to find some quotes that remind us how to get through these hard times to come. Because as Dr Martin Luther King said, “we must never lose infinite hope.”
“Sometimes our light goes out, but is blown again into instant flame by an encounter with another human being.” – Albert Schweitzer
Sometime others can help you regain your lost hope and give you hope for humanity in general. You might even do as Rumi says and seek others who fan your flames. You also never now if you are going to inspire others who have lost hope. Be a light for others and be welcoming to others who will light your flames anew. Be hope, receive hope.
“A problem is a chance for you to do your best.” – Duke Ellington
Some days problems can give you an opportunity to shine, often times you can’t see why but, if you rise above your problems it could lead you to something amazing. In working through a problem or a tough time, do your best. Even if it isn’t quite good enough it will inch you closer to having an even better best. Day after day you can work on it and hone yourself on the sharp edges of the problem at hand. It may not be easy and you won’t always win, but it will get you closer to being the best version of you that you can be.
“The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.” – Chinese Proverb
“Nothing is permanent in this old world, not even our troubles.” – Charlie Chaplin
