Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.
William Arthur Ward
While Thanksgiving Day comes once a year you can make ordinary days into days of thanksgiving. Think about all you have and feel the gratitude for it. You may find that your aren’t feeling as lacking as you otherwise might have. In feeling gratitude you can turn frowns upside down and help you to see the blessings in everyday life. Giving gratitude a chance to grow is the first step in many of the teaching of abundance.
Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.
Henry Van Dyke
Feel deeply the kindness in your heart for all that you have and express it into thanksgiving. There are of course many ways in which you can express your gratitude as thanksgiving. For one you can write down things in your life that you are grateful for in a journal. As you practice giving thanks everyday through journaling you may find your days brighter.
You may have heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. There’s another day you might want to know about: Giving Tuesday. The idea is pretty straightforward. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, shoppers take a break from their gift-buying and donate what they can to charity.
While not many people know about Giving Tuesday it is an idea that should be given a chance. If all of us showed thanks for what we have by giving it could change something in the world. While it might be small if you don’t have much the gesture could go a long way. It is said that people with the least are more willing to give for we know what it is like to have very little.
The thankful receiver bears a plentiful harvest.
When you are given a gift be thankful. Your gratitude give you a great feeling that increases the value of what you have received. Indeed if you are a thankful receiver then you may well get to receive more. Being grateful makes receiving better for the receiver and the giver. The goodness of feelings multiplies and spreads.
If a fellow isn’t thankful for what he’s got, he isn’t likely to be thankful for what he’s going to get.
Frank A. Clark
If you are not thankful for the things that you have then, how can you be grateful for what you receive? Make gratitude a daily habit and share it with everyone. As Thoreau says, make your thanksgiving perpetual!
I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual.
Henry David Thoreau
