Frustrated as I was, I decided not to retake that portal but, to attack the one that he claimed after stealing it. So, I walk over to it and attack until all of my energy in the game is used up. Then I checked the resonators on his portals and I hadn’t even made a dent. Playing the game was like the Kobayashi Maru from Star Trek. On the game there is a com panel to send out messages, I sent out a message that said, “I’m done.” After that on the way back to the car I uninstalled Ingress from my phone. It was then that I decided if I am going to fail at something, fail at something that I am passionate about.
If you are going to fail at something, fail at something that matters to you. Ed Wood was a failure at making movies but, that didn’t stop him, and he is remembered for it. Some people chase their passions and never find success during their life time. Van Gogh is a famous example of this. He never sold at painting during his life time but, after his death his genius was discovered.
Those Kobayashi Marus in your life may be what is stopping you right now from chasing your dreams. But you can be like James Kirk and change that no win situation. Just keep tying, remember Micheal Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team when he was a freshman, then he grew to become a legend. Make your mark in the world by doing something that matters to you even if it seems like your Kobayashi Maru.
Some times life gives your these brick walls and you have to decide if you want it bad enough you have to keep trying. Even if this blog never gets readers, if any book that I publish never gets read, or even if I never get views on YouTube (link to channel) I will keep pushing on and working through till the end of my days. Because it means something to me to write and to create and it is better for me to fail at being a writer than it is to fail at playing Ingress.
