Some people call it karma, some people call it reciprocation, some people call it just desserts, what ever you may call it, it is about getting what you give. When you do good, then goodness is brought back to you; when you do bad, then you reap the whirlwind of what ever crap you put out there. So, by being kind to people you find that it will brighten your own day. But really there is more to it and it is the right thing to do.
Recently a Tweet went viral from a man who was pushed and then called a rude name. Less than an hour later the man who had pushed down the interviewer and called him a rude name showed up for an interview. Needless to say the man who was rude did not get the job. Now, how would this have gone if the man had not been rude but courteous? Would he have been recognized as a decent person and gotten the job? Possibly.
In another story a young lady is in line to see a holy monument in France. But it is about to close and the line is ready to be cut off when the care taker recognizes her and asks her to come in and see it before they close for the day. The young lady did not recognize the old man but he told her that he had seen her the day before in a cafe helping an old lady with her crutches. This kindness touched the old mans heart and he was happy to repay to the young lady. When asked about it she said, “it was the most natural thing for me to do because it was the right thing.”
Think about all of the little things that you can do to make a difference. Handing a stranger a bottle of cold water on a hot summers day. Giving a blanket to someone who is shivering. Volunteering to help out in community organizations. You might meet someone would would be willing to give you a helping hand in what ever you’re doing.
Call it karma, reciprocation, or just getting back what you give; it really should be about doing the right thing. It isn’t hard to give a complement or lend a helping hand, but it can go a long way. People will remember you. The question is, do you want them to remember you for the good, or for the bad? The choice is yours to make, it is your life to live.
